when i worked gdb, the cars were fitted with stalkers, however we were too busy to worry about pinging speeders in town, so we hardly ever did the tuning fork test. we therefore hardly ever wrote any tickets out for speeding - there's enough dickheads doing dumb shit in front of patrol cars without worrying about speed. sometimes (quite often actually) a gdb car could even go a whole shift without writing a ticket for anything. ironic really, when the traffic guys didn't attend crashes cause the budget didn't allow the downtime, so the general duties guys had to, as incident response was covered under that budget
