I got up at 3.00 am yesterday and drove the XJR up to Taupo to witness the opening day of the ISDE. The weather cleared after Paekakariki and was sunny by the time I reached Taupo. I met a couple of trials mates and they invited me to come with them in their van to check out the special tests. Anyway to cut a long story short had a great time took millions of pics (all at home) and left for home at 4:30. The weather got disgusting south of Otaki - apparently that way all day. When I got home my driveway was wet and muddy. I parked the XJR and as I got off it - it moved off the stand and I leapt out of the way running down my very wet lawn faster than I had ever run before but I had to stop before running into the trees so I threw myself to the ground and slid along on my ass just like a softballer stealing base.
I got up and looked at my bike lying on the ground thinking I'll have to ring my mate to get him to help me lift the big blue beast up off the deck. But I thought I should give it a go myself and bugger me if it wasn't a piece of piss even though the grass I was standing on was slippery and the bike was on the downward side of the slope, and I had a stuffed knee and very old back.
Apart from some muddy bits there was no damage apart from a sticky throttle which I'll look at tonight. Sturdy beast them XJR's.
Oh by the way just to brag a little - last week our softball team finished 2nd in the Pan pacific masters in Brisbane and I never slid into base once.
