Thanks Nighthawk... I know I was suppose to start a new thread... but I actually have real boots now... just took them off after my second ride of the day.... I LOVE IT. Getting ALOT more confident now... I now understand why people have said that in 6 months time I will sick of my little ginny and will want something a bit more grunter... think I am already there, but must learn cornering abit more first(oh and pass my restricted and full)

Good things take time...But practise and take care... and every time you get off the bike you will have a grin on your face... People will be wondering why :-)
The thrill of two wheels, corning is the best part when you pull off a tight turn and you hit the apex perfectly... then power out... and your bike is twitching say yeah lets go... nothing feels like it :-)
However before you start taking the GN to its max corning make sure you are upto it, your tyres are good, the road conditions are good, most importantly learn what the bike can and cant do first... (You will be suprised what it can do using the gears keeping the revs up... but its no sports bike, a good learners commuter) blah blah blah...
as for bigger bike... hmmm getting full licence well help![]()

Hey Lissa, I know what you mean about the Ginny being lacking in the power department and wanting a bigger faster beast, but my advice to you is to learn as much as you can from the wee baby before you get your full and move on.
There are times when I wish I still had my wee one so I could practice stuff that I feel uneasy doing on my 900. (Like ever decreasing circles and then doing them faster until you fall off, just to see how much you can do, stoppies (not that the brakes on the GN are probably good enough to do a decent one) and wheelstands (again, GN? Not sure?), get really good at slow manouvering and U-turns etc).
But most of all, have fun and enjoy your bike and learn all you can from it.![]()
Mrs KD.
Yeah, I think that you have a wee way to go before you reach the capacity of that bike M. With the roads that are around Masterton, you just have to get up to speed once and some smooth riding will remove the need to accelerate at all. If you were in a half decent sized town that had traffic lights then yeah...I understand what you meant.
There has been a few stories/legends around regarding maniacs on GN250's putting Repsols to shame on the Takas (woops I've said too much). Those bikes are capable.

Thanks Mrs KD, yea I know.. I have along way to go before I can get on a more powerful bike, getting ahead of myself. Practicing everyday though.... sometimes get a ride twice a day, quite lucky really. Would love to see you on your 900... we should organise a ride soonish in the rapa?
hehe... well oneday I will get to the Takas... hopefully I ride a bit slower over than I drive my car. There has been a few stories/legends around regarding maniacs on GN250's putting Repsols to shame on the Takas (woops I've said too much). Those bikes are capable.

No 'Mrs KD' at the end of that one, does that mean Nigel is the one that organises the gals?
Nigel, we have to talk.

Me and my imaginary friend have been goin' round the bend for some time now....
Hey Lissa,
glad your enjoying the bike.Good roads down your way to learn on, if your not to hot on cornering yet you could get yourself out on those long straights and see what the little Ginny can wind out to.
I think this thread is going to go on forever, maybe you could set a record for the number of pages.
Still waiting for my bike to arrive, the ship has been delayed now, bummed out, Dec 5th D day, not too much longer to wait I guess.
Was out riding my road bike, pedalling type, on weekend, up the Maroatotara which is a long twisty climb out the back of Havelock, and I kept imaging what its going to be like when I get on a motorised version, hard to imagine I will be able to go around some of the corners descending any faster on the motorbike than the rd bike, probably slower till I get the hang of it.
Quite a few bikes out and about and I looked at them with a green colour.Still its fun cycling, get my fix that way for now.
Well, you gals all seem pretty keen for a get together, so what day would suit most? Lets start putting this in motion shall we? Name a day.
