FS: 1981 Yamaha XJ550RH - parts or restore

FS: 1981 Yamaha XJ550RH - suitable for restoration or parts.

Since purchasing, I have discovered that I don't have the time, space, money nor skills to get this once magnificent bike back on the road!

This bike was ridden into a ditch after the previous owner avoided a snoozing cage driver coming home from work one night. It was stored in a shed in this sad state for a couple of years until early this year when I picked it up with the intention of getting it back on the road.

Suitable for parts, or restoration if you are good enough!

    - 87000KM young!
    - Front & rear tyres have good tread – no leaks
    - Fuel tank is rusted (leaks), oil cooler was broken (spare included)
    - Gasket in engine shot (hence the red sealant around the engine).
    - A fair bit of rust/surface damage all over
    - Front forks and frame appear unbent.
    - Unsure if engine is seized but it won’t roll in gear.

Chain, rear sprocket and rear tyre approx 1000km old.

As is, where is (not running, no WOF) - rego is currently on hold.

Comes with service/repair manual plus spare set of carbs & oil cooler.

I had great hopes for this one – but the wife says it must go – my lost is your gain!

Buyer to arrange pick up and drag away!

$400 or best offer – go on, make an offer!

Man I want that hahaha. I'll have to keep an eye out for one once I have my full licence, it takes my fancy. Would be fun to attempt a restoration, would be a great project to learn about bikes. Oh well, by the time my full licence and some money comes around, I'm sure somebody else will have trashed something similar .
