Which in turn is going to be banned because of the actions of the young and stupid.

Worst part is the fireworks kids have these days are lame compared to what we had 15 or 20 years ago, and we never hurt anyone or damaged property with our 'science experiments'. But the kids of today still manage to fuck it up for the rest of us some how.

I second that call to ban teenagers.....stupid little retards....

Cause we never intentionally tried to damage shit while growing up. Nowadays they do what they can to try and destroy things for entertainment. Think they had it right afterall, video games have altered reality for alot of kids. Shame it's actually the parrents not making sure the kids understand the difference from the game and real life that's really at fault.

Aggreed. It's only gonna get worse as housing becomes denser and the availability of outdoor play areas for kids becomes scarcer. Kids are growing up faster and are dependent on technology to entertain them.

I hate to hear myself say this but oh well..."When I was a boy" some 15 to 20 years ago, we made our own fun with sports, BMXs, skateboards, model planes, go-karts...you name it.

CAn't relate to kids these days. Half of them are wannabe gangsters by the age of 10, the other half are mesmerised sitting in front of a PS, X-box or PC...

...he says sheepishly sitting in front of a PC ...OK gotta go. Got an electronics exam on Monday...

Lol, I've owned every platform gaming machine since the NES man. Only missed the Dreamcast (cause it sucked) and the current ones (too fucking expensive) I still went out and played, made my own go-cart (bicycle wheels and brakes wooden frame) that my dad towed behinds his motorcycle up and down our street. Perfectly stable up to about 30mph, then the rear wheels fell off. Fixed that for good the second time that happened though.
Made my own wooden swords (using the table saw safely at age 9) and me and by brother would whack each other silly trying to be Zorro.
We would climb up on the roof and do some 'base jumping' with bed sheets as parachutes.

Today's parents are afraid of their kids getting hurt doing that these days so shelter them, then when the kids do get some time out away from the egg carton, they go too far and get others hurt.

yep, when i was a kid, it was archery, target shooting, climbing trees, swimming [unattended] and what have you. i remember to get to the tree house, you had to climb the gate, the letter box and onto the fence, then a step into space in the hope of foot meeting tree. i missed once and fell one hell of a distance. never missed again, lol. also had a dart board...i got a center once, just clowning around...pity no one was there to see, lol.
we never did anyone any damage either, not intentionally. sadly....this was only 10, 15 years ago. im only 21, but feel as old as the hills where youths are involved. i think my generation [80's] was the start of the pc/cotton-wool situation of today. i remember telling dad not to smack me cos id go to the cops. i only hope the next generations can correct the wrongs.

there was a story in the paper today...a month old baby had a firework thrown at her in a carpark. it missed, thankfully, but it would have caused serious damage if it had landed on her! what kind of parenting is it when they think its ok to throw lit fireworks at infants?

i remember two kids i used to babysit...the mother went apeshit at me when her son pulled the hose out and turned it...he was soaked. i had told him to turn it off....but he didnt listen. i mean...hes wet, who cares! chuck him in a bath and put some dry clothes on him. not the end of the world.

Good thing you didn't get fucked up during childhood, dude. It could have resulted in a really sad-arse adult life.

    Huh?

If you're saying what I think you are saying then yea. The way my dad brought me up is why I think (and others tell me) I have such a level head about things. No pun intended.
He wasn't beating me for no reason, infact that time it was because I broke one of the nozzles on his truck tires trying to get the ants that were crawling on it off. Tire went flat and I think he had to get a new rim, so I deserved it along with most of the spankings and shit I got while growing up.

Only in Blenheim. RIP Tom, you crazy bastard, you will be missed regardless of how you went.

To those who pass judgement, dont be so rash. Tom was a good kid when I knew him. He got mixed up with the wrong crowd at school and unfortunatly it ended really badly.

Parents, look after your kids, make sure you know whats going on in their lives. Support them, make sure they know you are there for them, even when they tell you to piss off.

RIP Tom, Ill find those crazy bastards soon

I have Volumes I II and III of the Darwin award books. They are so aptly named. Sorry for taking the hardline here but this death has probably solved some possible problems of the future. The death of anyone in their youth, is most often a trajedy that saddens me deeply. Sorry, not this time.
