True, but you have travelled both of these roads, Highlander. So you know how straight the Oterehua - Poolburn road is compared to Omakau - Lauder - Becks highway.

    Yup they're good roads.
Suggested to my boss the other day that I need a familiarisation visit to our schemes down that way and that he should pay me equivilent air fare and let me find my own way...

Great idea.... Either Ruralman or I could show you some interesting ways of getting to Waipori, and I suspect OldRider could give give you some hints on Coleridge and Cobb.

PS: I see from your thread title you have upgraded to a TansAlp (or did your "R"s fall off on the bumpy bits?)
Change your camera for a manual controlled one, or focus high up in the sky and then take it to get a shorter exposure time, and thus richer colours. But if you arent taking sky/sunset it is a bit harder and you need a lot of sunshine for good landscape pics....

Had a fancy Canon jobbie last time down that way. I forgot to zip up the pocket, so it is spread on the road somewhere in the Lindis Pass. Was no point in going back as the road had been "closed specially for me to test my high speed handling."
I have a SLR in the cupboard, but use a digital so I can check, try again without my finger in the way, try again with the whole subject in the photo etc.

    I just take crap photos.

And let me guess, you've spent this evening installing your heated grips. No? Ah well.

Great write up oldrider. Some days make all the others worthwhile.

Feel free to call in for a break if you are traveling through past here any time.
We are older than your average KiwiBiker but with a bit of luck we will still have to buy a few more tyres yet. Cheers John.

Thank you, I will. And likewise, if you are ever up the Kapiti Coast.
