Cool copy and pasted over from the other thread for everyone to see.

I have just spoken to John on the phone. He is rapt to hear that there is a huge thread going for him to read and that there is so much support on KB for him.

He is having his operation tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at around 8amish...
He said it would be a approx 4 hours operation.

This operation is to make it possible for John to be able to sit up properly in his wheelchair etc.... they are putting in pins or plates into his spine.
This is a big operation and a huge hurdle for John to get throu.

Can someone in Christchurch please pop into Christchuch Hospital tomorrow night to see how it all went and then let us know on here. Cheers.

As far as ACC goes they are required under the legislation to provide certain things for the injured person, knowing what and how makes a big difference to getting things done smoothly.
Donna, let me know when you want help with ACC, I can get you all the info you need to get it done right.

True but I was talking about vehicles that John can get on and off himself and drive himself. There are just 2 vehicles than can be converted to do this.

ACC have had a few cases where they have argued...and lost and it does not do any harm to be cautious

I don't know where you are getting your info from but when I worked for them (only 7 months ago) they were able to (and did) modify any vehicle to suit the persons individual needs. I have personally seen Skyline's, Transit vans, VW's, Camry's, and multiple others modified to suit.
Whatever John's needs are I am confident that between the people on here who are able to help, and ACC, he will be well looked after.

    Hi Donna.
Though I live in NP, I haven't met John yet, as I only had a race bike and couldn't get out on any of the 'road' events.
But have always been interested to read what this 'Inlinefour' chap has to say on KB.

Seen I'm in your home town is there anything us local KB'ers can do to help out here?
I'm wondering what the lawn mowing situation is at your and Johns place?
I would be happy to set up a roster of KB locals to come and mow the lawns for you each week if that would be helpful? Or I could just do them regularly myself.
Genuine offer,, I hope you won't say no just cause you don't know me. Hopefully others will vouch for me.
We're here to help in the different ways that we can.

    Regards.
    Racey.

Pretty sure GB means a biggish van he could ride (that the right word?) his wheelchair through the back and into the drivers position and then drive in his wheel chair with hand controls ie transit van with a hydralic chair lift at the rear...
