I get seriously fucked off with people yakking (or, worse, texting) on their phones while driving. Seriously, if I get taken out by someone yakking on the phone or texting they had better pray they immobilise me because if I can get to my feet and hobble in their direction their day's gonna turn sour reeeeaaaalll fast...

Ban the bloody things in cars altogether !!! My pet hate . When I come across one, they get a Remus in their ear on full noise !!!

Phones have uses, but most people on the road have enough trouble just steering !! G.

I've often thought along the lines of how well the components of a cellphone would bounce and how many pieces it's likely to separate into on first contact with the road...

As to the car: your helmet's screwed after the crash anyway so that can be used to great effect (especially with a convenient handle in the form of the chin guard) on windshield, side windows, panels etc...

The temptation to do anything to the actual pillock must be avoided at all costs, despite the fact that they just tried to murder you with a lethal weapon (of course the lawyers and judges twist and minimise that angle and say it was "an accident" and try to say that the ton of fast-moving weapon is merely a motor vehicle, as if that somehow makes it better). Unfortunately the law is not grounded in reality and they frown upon you using force to defend yourself from people who eschew firearms and prefer to attack you with a ton of metal...

Hiya Wolf! Haven't heard from you for a while! How's da family?

Actually had to go and look this up in the dictionary again - Epidemic is from the French, "epi" meaning "upon" and "demi" meaning "the people". So the definition means widespread, (usually referring to disease), upon the people of a localised area. "Pandemic" means over a wide geographical area.

Sure agree the problem is endemic to the local area, though. Especially in Auckland. And green rep for your sentiments!

I saw a guy on a commuter bike texting tonight. I wanted to follow him and watch the crash.

Recently I borrowed a cage, went to Napier and back - we won't talk about Bay drivers - not enough time!! However on the way back there would be cars in the fast lane doing 80km or less and not moving into left lane - about 4 times - each one was on a cellphone. The amount of people driving and talking on a cellphone at the same time has certainly increased. It had been so long since I drove a cage frankly give me a bike any day. At least I can pass the crazy bastards.
I'm all for banning cellphones in cages - pull over and use it.

As a passenger - if the driver receives a cellphone call or text - I get very nervous and say pull over or give the ph to me. I, too have been stupid enough to answer a cellph while driving - you certainly lose concentration on what's happening on the road.

When on the bike the cellph is switched off and I check it at my breaks.

They can't pass a law banning texting in cars now - the NZQA has approved text-speak in exam answers and we wouldn't want to stop people practising for their exams on their way to school, would we?
