hmm... yellow bike doing 250? Thats a mystery... honest it is!
After i left you guys at coromandel I went tootling down the coast (what a great road) and despite the cars had a great time down to kopu. I guess when you're in a 'feck, i'm running late' mode, the cars aren't quite such a problem because I find I don' spend much time behind them!
Caught up with a bunch of fast buggers at the kopu bridge (2 x GSXR 1000, 1 naked R1, gsxr 750 and a yellow TLR). I've seen these guys out going through Hunua before so I knew they were fairly freakin quick and was suitably dismayed to find them trundling at 103 after crossing the bridge! Did a bit of quick arthimatic to work out what my average speed needed to be to get back to Auckland by three and decided I needed to be looking more at 120 so went passed and the boys finally decided that safety in numbers could work and got into the Miranda straights sitting on 125.
at that point all hell broke loose and I discovered just what a difference those extra 400cc can make in the hands of suitably skilled riders. Don't think I've ever made it so fast from miranda to clevedon trying to keep up or at least keep ahead of these guys(for brief stints when they stopped to let the TLR catch up). Made it to Howick by 3:10 which I was fairly happy with.
As for calling the HP, it could well have been someone getting confused on their roads and thinking they saw the TLR or me zip past... but the bulletin would've also been out for the gsxrs so possibly not our fault (unless they were nondescript enough to warrant pulling someone over). don't think anyone would've got a number plate anyway!
buckets of fun tho and so good to be out riding on a wonderful day... didn't seem like 3 months since my last thrash
thanks to Quasi for organising a great ride.
Cheers!
