    Ode to Oggy Knobbs

Had my first off at a track at Taupo on the weekend and thanks to me Oggy Knobbs, the damage was minimal.

There had been some light misty rain, but the track appeared to be still dry and I was riding it hard as always. I was doing a tight left hand corner and must have leant it over a bit much because the next thing I remember is being on the ground watching the Gixxer sliding into the kitty litter.

"FUCK, I hope I can still ride it home" was my first thought.

Then I made my next mistake, I got up and walked over to my bike without checking for other bikes coming down the track. Was lucky that there wasn't.

I picked the bike up and breathed a sigh of relief to see that the only thing that had broke off was the Stebel horn off my custom bracket as the Knobbs had taken all the damage.

Of course it was a low speed low-side crash. Not sure how much they would have protected the bike on a high speed or high-side crash.

The rear of the bike was protected by MotovationUSA Swingarm Sliders and the left pillion peg so the tail fairing didn’t get touched.

piece of mind then.. fitted some to mine the other week. Don't really want to find out myself how good they are, but glad your damage was minimal considering where you went!!

hope it's not too much grief to sort out, but glad it ain't costin $$$$'s!

Yep... they also acted like additional bungs. Although I think in Spank's case the horn also gave some protection as well

Are they screwed into the frame or the existing bolt holes? I'm interested in these aluminium ones but am wondering if they would offer inferior protectionhttp://www.engineeringsolutionz.com/

    Good one Spank.
I reckon if I had've had Oggys on the ZXR, she wouldnt have been a write off!
Got them on the next bike!

They should go into existing bolt holes. Don't trust anything that has to modify the frame.

thoroughly agree - magnificent things oggie knobs - had them fitted at first service and they prevented some very nasty damage when i dropped the poor bike recently ...............

..... although - must admit that my throwing myself under her to break her fall might have helped too

Yep, if I had the opportunity, I'd be more than happy to break a few bones to protect the bike. Bones heal for free. The bike costs.

I've already ordered new Knobbs, frame sliders and a new Stebel horn. Unfortunately you can't order just the left side ones. Have to get the pairs

yep, I'd have to say oggy knobs and their ilk are SO worth the money, Firtst mod anyone buying a new faired bike should do is oggy knobs. In fact the first manufacture thats fits them as standard will win consumer praise and industry glory.

Bikes fall over, people get knocked off, people fall off - save yourself the cash and heartache, get knobbed!!

Although in an end over end high side you'd be fucked, but you'd probably have more important things to worry about then the state of you bike, especially if you had managed to hang on
