Since we crashed our bikes in Dec last year, Sam has pretty much been "off" bikes... she still looked at bikes when they would go past where-ever we were, but she hated me talking about bikes and what i plan to buy or do or fix... she decided that she was going to buy a car and then in maybe a year or two look into getting another bike...
She got really shitty when I originally decided to keep the ZXR and repair it. She wasn't too keen on helping at all. It was a fight to get her to sit there and talk to Jono and I while we pottered around trying this and fixing that... The only part she was willing to help with, without putting up and bitching and moaning session was running up the road every so often to grab washers and so forth, but only cause it got her away from the bike and bike talk.
Since the ZXR has been road legal again, she's moaned everytime I've mentioned going on a ride. I tried building up the brownie points, but that didn't work too well... I finally managed to work a time to go for a ride (with Maverick) and the only reason she didn't bitch about it non-stop was because she had to work that day and couldn't find a good enough excuse to get me to stay home... (Although she did try)
Then this weekend just past, Saturday was her birthday and I said to her that if we had the time and nothing else popped up, she could take my ZXR for a ride as part of her birthday present. On Saturday cause of family and other comitments she couldn't go for a ride...
On Sunday we had a few hours spare between our plans and she decided to go for a ride... with a bit of pushing from me... of course.
She's only been on the ZXR once before, in a car park... and we were both a bit nervous about her taking the ZXR on a little ride. Her helmet needs a new visor from her bin in Dec, so she ended up wearing my old helmet... which was so tight on her, that her face was all squashed up and she talked funny lol... anyway... she pulled out the driveway all nervous and revvy and was gone up the road on her little trip up the motorway to Albany, then home the back way...
Now do you think I can get her to shut up about bikes?
She is back... to the point where she even sat outside for 2 hours while I cleaned the ZXR and much to my surprise she even helped me polish all the metal bits... (remember we're talking about someone who wouldn't even clean her own bike a year ago).
Sam is now determined to talk me out of selling the ZXR, instead she wants me to keep it, and give it to her (yes... give) and then (and only then) can I buy my 600.
I'm stoked that she is back with the bike bug... after 10 months I can finally start talking to her again about bikes and so forth... I'm really keen on the idea of handing the ZXR down to her when I upgrade. That way it gives me more time to fix it up how i had pictured in my head, because I know Sam, and how she rides, so she would be happy to stay on a 250 for at least another year or two before she upgrades (most likely to a cruiser). Which brings up the small problem of not having that extra money to fund the 600...
So yeah... I'm stoked and now trying to work a plan of how I can still afford to buy a 600 without selling the ZXR... Then the future spending on building up 2 bikes to what I have pictured... so if all works out... Sam will be choosing the future colour of the ZXR... and somehow I'm guessing it may end up red...
Anyway... yay! Theres two bikers (alas only one with a bike) in our house again![]()

Now all I have to deal with is the "can I ride your bike to work tomorrow" issues lol
