    Clear velcro anyone ??

I've just picked up my headlight guard and was going to fit it this weekend.

Problem is I don't care much for the white velcro tabs that come with it. I'd prefer clear if possible.

Anyone have any ideas on where I could get something like this ??

Or is there something else I could use instead ??

    TIA

If you owned a bike as expensive as Matt's you'd know where he's coming from Chris!

Why would the manufacturer give you white velcro for the clear cover? That would look gawky! I havn't got any suggestions where you can buy clear velcro from, but I used to sell a product called "light skinz" available now at Repco. It is a 3mm thick slab of plastic vinyl type material that sticks straight on to your headlight and you just carefully cut around the shape of the light to suit with a sharp blade. It works very well, is legal, can be fiddly, but is another option!

I'm not very vain about it (owned it 5 months, 4,500k's and have yet to clean it). The white tabs just look out of place on a clear surface.

THe tabs that come with those things are useless anyway....

The LIght Skins stuff Zed is talking about is good.......can go a funny colour after a while tho - which ends up looking worse than the little tabs

    Hi Matt

When I bought the Ventura light guard for the 'bird, I filled in the customer satisfaction leaflet that came with it on exactly the same isue as you. About a week later, I had a very nice call from one of the partners at Dold Industries in Hamilton saying that clear velcro wasn't available. That was nearly 3 years ago and I haven't checked since. Thanks for reminding me though and I'll post a query on the UK Blackbird site today.

    Cheers

    Geoff

    Paydirt Matt!

Just got back from Tauranga and the following email was waiting for me from one of the guys on the UK Blackbird site. Hope this fills the bill. Looks like they do little circular patches as well as in rolls.

I have had this problem in the past – Ventura’s customer care is crap isn’t it!

Probably no need for you to buy anything………………….

The stuff you are after is called Scotch 3M “Dual Lock”.

In most civilised countries (!) adhesive specialists stock this and are only too willing to send out a roll as a sample to prospective customers!

If it works out you’ll have enough to last you for the next 100 years!

    Good luck!

Another alternative p'raps is the clear rubbery glue used to stick free cds to magazine covers. A blob on each corner should do it. All depends on how often you want to take your cover off.
