    This is complete bullshit..

makes me so angry, taxes will go up, congestion will be bad, our failing public transport system will fail even more so,

but sure, build a massive unnecssary stadium on the waterfront.

Why not.. they have all that surpless tax anyways, may as well do something usefull and worthwhile with it.

The only thing that would make sense is if they provided a huge Heliport on top with at least 300 parks (equipped with parking meters of coarse) That will take care of any congestion 'eh Trev' Perhaps the $250 gate price could include a Heli-Taxi shuttle from somewhere south of the Bombays. Sound extravagant-Hell No!!!! (that pledge card must still beat at the printers)

I could give a rat's arse about the new stadium... Aucklanders are apathetic and don't bother filling the existing ones..

Spend the money on roads, or health or education or tax breaks for R&D/Business...

aaaa shit I said roads - I mean light rail or something useful!

I'm all for money being spent to provide facilities for the rugby world cup, but FFS we've got a stadium, but all the residents who bought houses near the stadium complain too loud about it being used as a stadium. Like buying a house next to the speedway and complaining about the noise.

Look at how long it takes to a) get resource consent, and b) get any major infrastructure work done in this country.

My money is on a last minute rushed botched job costing even mo' money...

700 million would be a bargain!
Once the resource consent / designers / inflation blowout gets added we would expect an increase to at least double the amount.

WHY does the gubbinment want a stadium on the waterfront???? So we can be like Sydney (The "Nuns in a scrum" building) or New Yoik (Statue of Liberty), etc etc...

Put the money into finishing off Eden park if they have to...
Or hold it all in Wellington/Christchurch!

    Stupid fuckin game.......

Um... you say that like we actually have a fucking choice?

Time to write some angry letters and tell them to spend some $50 building a model stadium then put the rest into roads?

The logic is that the $700m is an investment. Build a quality stadium and doing a good job of hosting the world cup, and the revenue generated will bring in loads of tourist and advertising dollars, stimulate the economy, and earn more tax for the government.

Paying money to people who have already been shafted does nothing for the government coffers. Better to hide the data and employ corrupt practices of hiring biased 'independant' consultants.......

But Auckland already has got so many stadiums so why do they need another one?

Wouldn't this new stadium block the sea view of those sitting on Queen street drinking their coffee?
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.
