Given that the final for the 2011 World Cup will probably be played in Sydney, the ABs not being in it will probably be a blessing...

Just watched the replay (after sleeping in this morning) and although the ABs didn't hit top gear it was still a stunning performance. I was expecting to see a close game but much like everyone else I'm quietly ecstatic that the gap between the best and 2nd best rugby team in the world is so great.

France were outmuscled and got smashed in the tackles, they looked broken by the 60min mark and ran out of ideas. It was the best defensive effort by the All Blacks so far this season.

However I still refuse to get my hopes up for the RWC though after being bitterly dissappointed the last 3 times. I'm not claiming anything until I see McCaw lift the cup in France next Oct.

The ABs sure were impressive, but I think they played better against England. They're a complete side now, a vast improvement on last years form, and by far the best in the world at the moment.

Let's wait and see how they fair against a decent team though - like Wales in a couple of weeks...

This has been the pattern of the last 16 years. We peak a year before the World Cup and then field a bunch of newbies with 2 old guys who have 6 broken legs between them for the World Cup year and then wonder how come we lost.
