    Hi Julie, did Red Baron let you have a ride? Because the price is similar as you say, so it will all come down to personal preference and what is more comfortable and/or what you like the look of. Apparently the GN's are not coming in any more, when they are gone they are gone, so in the future there may not be the choice.

    Your bike your choice as I've said before, the rest of us can only offer our own opinions but the only one that matters is your own.

    Both bikes have things going for them and should be mechanically sound as Ixion has said, so it really is just up to your personall taste.

    I have owned a gn250 and really enjoyd it, it was cheap on petrol never had any mechanical problems and i also fancied the old retro look of the bike. A real plus of the bike was also the resale value, i sold it same day and for as much as i paid for it. That Yamaha doesnt look bad though. Personally my choice would still be the GN250 its tried and true for almost 20 years so has more than proved itself. Good luck with your choice and remember no matter what you buy your gonna have great fun
