I'm just startign to do wheelies myself (suck big time at them). Not that I know what I'm talking about but this is what I've been doing.
speed:25-30km/h
clutch it in, give it a couple thou revs and dump it...she prob wont lift, so try again with a little more power....lift a little...again with a little more...etc etc until it finally comes up, once it starts falling back down give it a little more gas and it will come up again (but not to much)
I finally got a 5 sec wheelie the other day....woohooo (yeah yeah, its good for me though!!)
Does that sound right or have I been doing it all wrong as well????
Clutching in first, arghhhhh!
Hey man, easy ways to start off.
1) using first gear accelerate hard from stopped to about 20-30km/h then go fully off the throttle and then fully open the throttle again. What this does is lifts the front under the initial acceleration then makes it compress quite hard when closing the throttle and then bounces it back up on the full throttle.
if ya do it right itll come up no problem at all, youll have to control how far up with the throttle and best to practice it and get use to the feeling at first, the wheelie will carry through to the end of first gear if you chose it to.
2) Once ya reasonably confident with that you can start on the second gear ones, either change into 2nd from first while in a wheelie, or start it in second.
To do this youll have to lean what the bike will pull up from, but quite simple. While going somewhere round 80-100k (sound be right amount of revs) then roll onto full throttle and at the same time as hitting full throttle do a half clutch as quick as ya can. (Really hard to explain) If done right itll pull up no problem at all and back to the throttle control and to the end of that gear.
If done right in 2nd this should be the outcome,
This is what the 600 can do, ya 1100 shouldnt be far off.

children in the dark cause accidents, accidents in the dark cause children
You could always try dropping one tooth off the front sprocket. Im sure that would make it abit more lively in the first few gears...

slip it, don't "clutch in and dump" it
I call it like I see it. Don't take it personally.
just fuckin whack it open.
she'll come up.
Get her up to around 40-50 kays in first, quick dip of the clutch as you wind it on and it'll rise nice and smooth. More throttle = more elevation.
And RFs will wheelie just fine and dandy boys.![]()
