    Jet staggering

    Hi all. I'm Chris. I have an nsr250 racer. The main jets are staggered as you might expect. It currently runs 175/180 mains though the previous owner has set the jets up so that the rear cylinder (runs slightly hotter) has the smaller jet installed.
    I was under the impression that if a cylinder is running hotter than its mates you run a larger jet (ie, air cooled in line triple).
    I cannot understand why this has been done. Anyone have any ideas as to why this may have been done?

    The hotter the air, the less volume you can suck in.

    Less air = Less need for fuel

    If that make sense.

    The guy has it setup right by the sounds of it..

    These V twin things, TZ, RS, NSR, TZR etc all seemt o have differential jetting requirements and in fact even some of the old aircooled Yamaha race twins TD/TR's etc the same can apply.

    And that is, that irresective of the fact that they are all part of the same engine, they do and can operate quite independent of each other in terms of requirements, so watch the plug colour, det counter , exh temp gauges etc (Ie your preferred jetting process) and just jet to suit what it needs.

    BUT, also write down what you did and what you saw. That way in 6 montsh time you can track it and make imformed changes when you got to different places.
