the oil pump is sick, the cam and a number of other bits are badly pitted. This is the sort of shit i would expect from a Harley ( I have some old parts that call them selves a bike)

Who is the importer of these fine machines (Guzzi) I would really like to talk to them. Maybee i should trade the parts on a Kawaski!
tell me more? hemorage were? died why?
3 month is bullshit I can get a blade in two weeks from Itialy.
cam pitting IIRC there was a problem with these and they were recalled, this sort of thing is typical before Peago/Aprila owned MG due to pissed/hangovered tec's and taking short cuts.
    What year bike is it?
Harley dont have these probs as already said they are jap parts LOL.
ERIC WOODS himself is the importer he is still involved with the shop now named "rolling thunder" in Chch, give them a ring but dont expect much help they have just sold the salls rights to hampton motor Co chch.

Do you belong to any of the Guzzi forums over seas???

    Oh mate!
    That's a bummer and only 6900kms!
Agree with Dangerous about the cam hardening issues, have read of owner grief with that one. 3 months for parts is not right, unless you ordered when the factory have a little summer break, but these days they seem to function 12 months of the year.
Don't throw in the towel yet, first ask for a loaner from the shop, the Griso demonstrator will do for starters...
NZ is too small for someone not to see you right over this, you just have to find that someone.
Wish you the best for it, PM me the dealer you are with, I may be able to help.

Not 100% sure but it seems that the oil pump was a mess and lack of oil cased the cam to fail plus a follower jammed in the head, I havent seen a written report but I have the parts list.

it was still running into the shop but making a lot of top end noise (real rattly tappets).
Ive had a number of new vehicles including bikes over the years, even had a Toyota with 370,000 on the clock and never a problem with the enging the only other collapse i have had was the Harley. This has shaken my belief in Guzzis a lot. Will the new parts be any better? this was an 03 model bought new in 06 a net search showed the Ballabio to be reliable ( compared to what?)

i'm on an overseas sight that Nude reckomended but I havent visited in a while.

No Go on the loaner, I could get one from time to time but they couldn't tie up a potential sale for three months bla bla blah,
Kind of funny considering Ive seen second hand Guzzis on the floor for over a year now.

Yup, the V11Lemans forum is great. I've learnt so much from there, and had many of the problems with my V11 that they have had.
Good luck with your fixing, Multiman.

And maybe I could win the 2nd production 8V

    The oil pump eh?
Never heard of that failing, cam hardening maybe. That oil pump is virtually unchanged for decades and not prone to failure as far as I know. It is so simple as well, either it picked up something to jam the two little cogs or the keyway may have got dislodged. Next time you go back to the shop take some pics- for your own reference of course, but post them up here so we can have a perv too eh?

Have to be pretty good to beat the 'old' 8V. 15 years old and still looks current, sorta.

What is the new 8v setup?
Dodgys Daytona and the Centauro are a single over head cam running two rockers at right angles from a belt, this new 8v is different as far as I know?

So that would make the 8V Griso similar to the Daytona's cam-in-head short pushrod design wouldn't it?

And yes, your Daytona looks sexier, Dodgyiti !!!!

Yeah loved it for years, hence me not being 100% sure I want to trade up, it still goes better than I can ride

Q's engine pics are helping though.

Oh shite, I have made the very nessesary alterations to my engine post.
If you check out the video clip at www.motoguzzi.it and click the griso8v page, then video, there is a very sweet clip of the bike and engine. Better than anything you would find on any of those unwholesome adult sites out there!!!!!!
