Now that I am home, warm and listening the rain pounding on the roof. I bloody enjoyed the road/ride, the coldest bit was getting back on at Rakaia, until my body got cold enuf not to care anymore. The water realy seemed to penitrate from Templeton to Rangiora.
I might consider that ride to Kaikora on Sun if the weather improves.

Nice put some more faces to the names.

Yep it was a great ride until it really pissed down.

A shower dry clothes and ready to do it again, well maybe not today.

Good to put two more faces to names, great to meet you guys.

The only pic I took, just after a bit of drizzle and stopped for a coffee and muffin.
One gorge down and two to go.

well THAT was an interesting ride!
Actually I really enjoyed the ride even in the rain... started out good at the peg, ok at rangiora and then just a wee drizzle at the first gorge (ashley) and then a muffin at Oxford while the rail started to pelt down.
left there and the rain decided to stop briefly till waddington and the waimak gorge, after that it started in earnest.
Got to the Rakaia gorge, man was that river was HIGH! Found our way to methven, then kinda got lost trying to find Hororata so ended up at the main drag and rakaia instead for a quick drink at the pub. Crossed the lower Rakaia river bridge, and the river was well up there as well, and headed back to chch on the main road.
Even tho it was quite wet it was surprisingly mild and i was actually comfortable in my leathers and cordura jacket. Bit damp by the time I got home, but all in all a pretty good ride...enjoyed the company, and the road even tho i could hardly see the road at times, it was fun. Actually saw quite a few bikes out as well. Funny cantabs, they get out in all kinds of weather

Ha ha , yeah I think there was some confusion there, Really we should have turned back at the Rakaia Gorge/Methven and taken the first right toward Hororata. Otherwise we should have turned left after the Rakaia bridge at on the mainsouth road.
Always good to see some different scenery anyways. And considering the wet on that last stretch, quite nice just to head home... of the rain a liddle bit.

Yeah it was a good ride even if I did get a bit wet by the time I got home.
It was good to catch up with new faces.

Dangerous Where were you ya lazy bugar- you weren't worried that you'd have to clean the bike after a ride in the rain were you.
