as for moving to telstra cable... you cant compare adsl and cable internet, they are 2 completely different systems.

if cable was everywhere, we wouldnt need adsl
I know that That's why I added that I might go back to ihug in the future if I moved to an area not covered by cable, IF they sorted their shit out...

Funny thing is, if their service was stable and running at the speed it was when I first got it, I would probably not have gone to cable. The only reason I called Telstra was because of a HALF hearted attempt to find out if it was even available in my area. When I found out is was, I booked it on the same phonecall.

Register your own email domain name and then get your ISP to host it for you. I've done that for about 10 years and have had three ISPs in that time. Works a treat, that is until somebody with my name and a trojan in their contacts list caused the two to combine. I now get about a dozen bounceback emails a day from various email client servers. Sigh.

You have me completely wrong. I'm not angry ALL the time.

Hmm, that is interesting. I have already got a domain registered, and have domain name hosting and virtual hosting for it with ihug. What do I need to do to get e-mail domain name hosting setup? I presume that's mychosenaddress@mydomain.co.nz? Sweet...

Talk with your ISP. All you need is "proof of ownership" of your domain name. They should be able to set up multiple addresses for you too, should you require. Just give the TelstraClear helpdesk a call. They're pretty useful and obliging!
