My reckon that that was the nearest they could get to a commentary on his character. Perhaps the 'civil' bit was to say, "Now that you are a Doctor of Civil Law, Foggy, you have no excuse for being uncivil."

I reckon he should've been given more than one degree. Perhaps a Dr of Whingeing, or Master of Moaning, or a some sort of award for blaming everyone else for everything, even when he'd made the podium.

He may have won the odd race or two, but to my mind he's a sorry excuse for a human being, no sportsman, and a Prize Dick.

Dam, well said! But I bet he would kick your arse on a bike though, which is what his job was, and he did it very very well. So what if the world does not like him, why should he care, he gets ?got paid to win races and championships, and that is just what he did in brilliant style

Yes, no doubt he was a good rider and won same races. It used to piss me off though when he was on the podium, and instead of being happy like others (Rossi, Chili, Capirossi, Melandri, etc.) he was busy whingeing about how his tyres weren't good, or the bike wasn't good or someone held him up blah blah blah.
I'd heard he didn't even particularly like racing bikes, only winning. Far cry from Rossi, who LOVES racing and loves bikes.
And is always so happy, and passionate.
