    FOR SALE: 1999 Yamaha R6

    Yep, its for sale.

1999 Yamaha R6 (first registered 2001). 56,000km on the clock, oil and filter done religiously at 5000km intervals using Motul 5100 oil. Bike is running a K+N air filter, stage one dynojet kit and a high-mount Two Brothers Racing slip-on exhaust. Also has ohlins fork internals (but not springs). Aftermarket undertail fitted with custom number plate hanger and mini-indicators on the back. Also has an adjustable steering damper fitted and a single seat cowling for the pillion seat

Chain and sprokets are approximately half worn.

Brand new Metzeller M1 Sportec tyres with less than 100km on them.

    Valve clearances done at 46,000km.

New camchain and tensioner at around 35,000km.

Gearbox has just been rebuilt with some new gears and parts from a better condition second hand gearbox.

    New swingarm bushings.

Was compression tested after gearbox rebuilt - all four spot on at 150psi

Steering head and wheel bearings checked recently - ok.

Stopping power is provided via standard Yamaha calipers and discs with after market braided lines and HH fully sintered brake pads. The braided lines aren't road legal but I have the standard brake lines for WOF time.

Also included is a damaged tail section, damaged front guard, standard exhaust in good condition, factory air filter, workshop manual, users manual, all service history etc.

This bike has been in a few accidents, each only causing cosmetic damage. From these there is a crack on the right mid fairing, and two 10c size patches on the left side where the paint has been worn through. Also the tail section is second hand and also has two patches that have been sanded smooth.

There is a slight rich spot at approximately 3,000rpm, this causes the bike to bog down occasionally if you pull away slowly from the lights, but doesnt effect open road or track riding.

Details of Rego/Wof to come shortly, and bike will go on Trademe soon. It is currently stored at a friends place as I lost my licence on the way to his house. There are other personal reasons for sale, I'll get back into biking later on but at the moment I need to take a break and having the money will help more than having an R6 sitting in my garage.

I'll post more pics soon when the bike is at my place.

$7000 is what i'd ideally like for it but get in touch with an offer if you are interested, i'm not in a rush to sell.

Also for sale are a full set of side and lower fairings in good condition (red and black) along with a few other fairing parts, my leathers and boots will soon be up for sale too.

yeh, really sucks. Was doing 139kmh up Albany hill at 6.45am, no other vehicles on the road except for the cop who was heading the other way. The road is an 80kmh area so was 59kmh over. He was going to do me for dangerous driving and failing to stop... I was thinking of running but there were push bikers everywhere after he saw me so didnt want to risk it. At the moment i've lost it for 28 days, an apperance in court will decide how many donuts i pay for, and if the suspension period gets extended.

FOR GODS SAKE DONT SELL YOUR GEAR!!!
if you have some gear it will be easier to get back into it later
also if by chance you get offered a ride in the future, you still have gear
Did you say you had a single seat cowl??
    I could be intersted as I have a 2001 model,How much?

    Not for that price...

I've been keeping an eye on TurdMe for R6's so I can gather an average price range vs quality. And $7000 including all those mod's and aftermarket parts will sell like cup cakes at a fat people fair...

I need to wait to see what my xmas bonus will be, so I can only look at buying a bigger bike in Jan-ish

Also right now waiting to hear back from Finance broker guy as to whether Sam and I can afford to buy an apartment... if so then the bike upgrade will be put on hold until June/July... if we are NQ (not qualified) then the bike upgrade will be Jan/Feb

The gear im still contemplating, was wanting to get newer gear anyway.

The single seat cowl itself looks mint, but i think someone tried to break into my bike as its become semi-detached from the lower part that locks down. I'd rather keep it with the bike until i know for sure that it's sold. Check on ebay, should be able to get one for under $100NZ

Get a pit bike when you sell this so you can learn how to wheelie
