    Not Good News

I just heard that a highway patrol officer was killed in what could possibly have been a chase. It was on the bridge just coming into Oakura from New Plymouth.

This is not going to be good. Should probably get some more facts before anything else is said. I just pray he wasn't chasing a biker.

    RIP

Here is a link of the news on nzoom: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/news_national...54?format=html (obviously not many facts are known yet)

Head-on. Doesn't look like it was a pursuit.

Looks like one of the cars lost control, (aqua planed), clipped the bridge and crossed the centre line, (from TV3 news).

Spare a thought for the mans family.

Well from the aerial it appears the 4WD crossed. But that's just from the scene I saw. HP car was cut in half basically

I know the bridge well, and it didn't look like the 4WD left it's lane to me.

There certainly was a huge dumping of rain about 7:30 this morning in New Plymouth. That Oakura bridge is only 10 minutes away.

that's what I heard on the radio news - police car aquaplaned, hit the bridge and into the path of the other vehicle. One of those unfortunate incidents that you wouldnt wish on anyone

Well known fact that Subarus perform amazingly in impact tests.

And why is it that its always the coppers with young kids get taken out?

    Life's not fair some times.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
