The Avid BB7 brakes are not up to scratch compared with even my dodgy Elixir R's. It could be the pads, but there's plenty of meat there. The rear especially seems to grab more as it warms up which means letting off the lever slowly to keep nice constant braking.

Might nick the Shimano cheapies off the Stumpy and give them another go.

One bonus of cable brakes it's they're easy to get the cable length right. No buggering about with hose cutters, roses and re-bleeding.

    Bits from Ireland have arrived!

    Mostly.

The Funn Flame On bars and WTB tubeless rim tape are here, but the Manitou Marvel forks are stuck in customs and they don't phone or email, they post a letter...

GST, handling fee, GST on handling fee, biosecurity levy, GST on biosecurity levy = $120 extra. GST was only $75 of that.

32 hours from Belfast to Auckland, then 7 more days to get from Auckland to Nelson.

Coppermine Epic next Saturday, hope they're here before that! Don't want to do Boulder Valley on a rigid again if I can help it!

    Finally!

    Off with the old...

    On with the new...

It does change the geometry though...

At 100mm it changes the HTA from 71° to 69° which may be a plus.

Now to break them in as much as possible before the race...

I beat 7 riders in the Epic! I think the guy on a single speed who broke his chain ring finished in front of me though
