Where in Auckland are you?....the 250 rides are out East
I'm in the city, but I'm willing to go anywhere. If I can't make the effort to go out east for a ride, then I reckon I should just hang my helmet up now. Good to know there are a group that just nana's along as I think I will be needing a grey wig for a while

Tell me about it. I bought the new machine knowing I had to 3 months. I mean, what's 3 months... It's only 2 to xmas and then before I know it... Yeh right!. What the hell was I thinking :slap:
Every morning, when I open the garage to get the bike out, I look lovingly at the new toy as I wheel out the little CBX.

    Only 2 to go now

Now I know I am about to get a whole load of abuse. "Just ride it", "Don't be a wimp", " Are you gay or what" etc, etc. But having had my licence for over 30 year, I value it too much. It's also now coming up to the silly season. Regular spot checks. More about. Add to that the number of cager's that 'take the chance' . I can't afford to have the new toy written off by some nugget only to find that the insurance company won't pay due to lack of correct licence.

At least I can still ride the CBX to get it out of my system. I will give the bike boy's a run for their money tomorrow when I go on the Wellington Toy Ride. They may have bigger bikes, but I am still out there, doing what I enjoy .
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Most would call ya a whimp & Girlie boy .. but i and most others on her call you a legend .. I also have a larger bike 700cc intruder sitting across the garage , and every day while wheeling my 250cc out i think what if then i have a wife that reminds me im a Driver for crust and 1 silly little ride down the road could end it all .. Your a Legend ..

    Welcome to KB!
As others have said, take your time. There are some great people here and you might think about hooking up with one of the mentors who will be a "guiding light" to someone who is new on 2 wheels.

    Stay safe!

    Hi Lteejay,
I know how you feel.I am in the same situation as you.I have been trying since September to buy a bike. After looking around for a second hand bike and finding out like you have that the prices are high I decided to spend a few more grand and buy new.It was an exciting day when I finally ordered the bike, that was 8 weeks ago....still waiting ! The NZ supplier had sold out so its a matter of waiting for the new shipment. It was meant to be here on Nov 23rd but the ship was running behind schedule.Next ETA was today, last friday when I rung it was on track, yesterday when I rung the arrival date had changed again. The ship docks today, so its not looking good for riding this weekend, bummer, had my weekend planned, riding Sat, riding Sun, bummer. There is remote chance I may still get it on Saturday but I think thats wishful thinking.Bummer, bummer.Oh well, next week.It cannot possibly change again, unless the friggin ship sinks, or the truck crashes.

Last evening I went riding with some KB locals as pillion which was awesome.Good to meet them and they have invited me along again next Wed.I should be able to join them soon on my own bike when this waiting game is over.

Good luck buying a bike, you will get one eventually, its frustrating when it takes so long.I know how you feel watching others riding when you cannot get out and do it yourself.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Cant afford to put any more money into the bike, so have to just keep looking for a pre-loved.
