it's pathetic that it comes down to shit like this. Where would something like that be justified?
    twats.
If I had been in a crappy corolla and they have been tailgating in their 'love of their sad little lives', I would have jabbed the brakes a bit. That probably wouldn't teach them to tailgate, but it'll fuck up their cars.. Then just hope you can still shoot off!

As much as road rage sucks and glad to hear you were not seriously hurt.

Is Pakaranga highway not a 70 kmh zone all the way (For those not familiar it is simply a multi lane road) so 65 kmh corners mean little in this context. Are you saying they were taking up both lanes and you passed them on the outside because somehow your car goes faster even with no foot on the accellerator and brake applied...... ....Short version.A car passed me last night in a dodgy fashion,dickheads...they disappeared into the night never to be seen again. ?????

I guess this pissed them off that a crappy Corolla could do that to their cars...

I think JSG is talking about the South Eastern Arterial, not the Pakuranga Highway. There are two corners between the bridge and the lights for Carbine Road, these are lower speed corners, but the whole stretch is 80kph and I dont think that the corners have a recommended speed sign posted - I could be wrong on this.

There are a few drivers that take these corners at 65 (or slower), it's painful to watch as there is not that much caution required. These corners can be taken comfortably at the speed limit, even double the speed limit if one was so inclined . . .

Something sounds fishy here, I cant see two boy racers who are "racing" at the time to take these corners so slow, nor can I see why crappy brakes are a reason to take a corner so fast that your "crappy 1300 corolla" has to overtake said boy racers - unless you are unfamiliar with the road, or perhaps the corners had somehow shifted?

Either way, violence was not the answer. They shouldnt have punched you, based on what you have told us here.

Yup you showed them up JSG (good on ya). Its like a motor bike being given the learn by a scooter. They would have felt like chumps with their ego's in tatters and resorted to violence. Sore losers eh..! Late night, can of petrol, matches, they're in the market for a new cage.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

I just hope he indicated 3 seconds or 100 metres before doing so..

The serious side is some folk might have stuck you with a knife or if you were a little further south used a carpenters hammer....One reason to simply take a deep breath and forget about it...I am sure all can say at some stage they could have delt with a situation differently if at all.

I live in Pakuranga, just off the waipuna motorway bridge, and I always get dickheads tailgating me across the bridge and in the sweeping corners that lead up to it, take them around 90-95ish... and some boy racer punk is 2m off your rear bumper, its really frustrating... had that last night even... I was not by any means going slow (in cage), and yeah my wagon is lowered on 17" mags n stuff... but that doesnt mean I want to race these tossers n certainly dont want them tailgating me!! Must be pple with too much $$ and no brains!!

I hope the people that caused incident last night get whats coming to them!!
They might not have a perfect record already... so do them hard n who know's... might be their 3rd strike your out! make the rd's a lil safer

best advice my old man gave me was get the first hit in.
couple years back similar thing happened i pulled over and the cock lunch eater jumped out and lucky i got out too as soon as he opened his gob and said what he wanted to do to me i gave him a kick in the nuts then lay into his sorry arse while he was keeled over.
gee i lost it and scared myself quite a bit to see that i lost it as much as i did.
i remember yelling at him all this shit about whose got the road rage now bitch as stuff like that.
normally im just a quiet redhead but not that afternoon.,
    hahah
probably the wrong thing to do but man i was pumped for ages after it.
hope he thinks twice about trying to do some road rage on someone else. the dumb thing was i didn't even do anything wrong, well not to my knowledge.

That sucks, sorry to hear that mate.

Best advice I can think of is keep a bit of distance from dodgy drivers next time they pass you.

Get your brakes sorted out ASAP ..... so that you can brake safely and NOT be forced to overtake them when they brake like that.

Hey Crashe thanks for your advice. My brakes are fine for a 1988 1300cc Corolla - but as far as brakes go - by modern standards they are average at best.

Mate - they were in a 2lt Mazda Capella and a hotted up Civic. I couldn't shoot off anywhere that area has straight roads all the way. Besides I don't want to damage anyone's car as that will escalate the situation to a whole new level.

Bunch of young islander/pakeha mix - islander big build and facial features but very fair in complexion. There were two of them both easily 30kgs heavier than me. Although only one guy from the 1st car got out. The whole incident took like 3 seconds. When I pushed him off and got out of the car he immediately went to his car and drove off..

It's ok - I only lost a few hours sleep waiting at the Hospital.. He I hope get's dealt to properly by the courts.

Not saying you did anything wrong cause I see boyracers and other wankers driving like complete fucktards everyday, but my tip would always be (When possible) slow right down let them pass you. IMHO boyracers/tailgaters hate having to go 45kph (in a 50zone)and will pass you as soon as they can.
If you pull up to the lights and it's about to turn red lock you doors/wind up your windows and if you see anyone about get out of their vehicle start ringing the cops or run the light if you safely can do it.

I'm sure there's some cops on the site that can give some better advice.

What a crock, I've had plenty of 1300cc Corollas 4-8 years OLDER than yours and I can assure you I could stop them all in plenty of time without having to make dangerous passes on a corner!?!?

I will be holding my breath for a little bit, if nothing happens then we shall see what can be done....

I could have stopped - but would mean emergency braking - I chose to drive around them instead. I've been driving that road almost everyday for over a year now so chose that route. On hindsight - emergency braking was probably the better idea and letting them get away was better - live and learn.

I'm pretty stoked to have gotten away with just a bruised lip which is healing more every minute. Could have been a lot worse. At the hospital there was this guy who had been laid into by a gang with multiple black eyes, a badly broken nose and skin grazes......

Shit happens. Besides in the general scheme of life I probably deserved a punch in the face after all the crazy things I've done in my few years on the road.
