Nah I know the one. I think it was an F18 doing a low level Sonic boom. As he passes the carrier, he has a flame out in the port engine, they bail, it crashes.

I have on good word that our Skyhawks flew below our flight decks, not very fuckin high off the deck att all , and used to enjoy coming through between the masts on Leanders at 90 to the deck.

In 1994 there were a few revelations made in B52 world and being "down and dirty" should not have led to one of aviations finest examples of stupidity. Believe me, I flew low level ops in a previous life and flying an aircraft that low is not avoiding radar. Its called showing off. Have a look HERE. The attached Video is also self explanatory.

?? There are 4 wire ariels spanning from the foremast to the mainmast on the Leanders. Not the sort of thing an A4 would like to aquire at low level... however the bragging rights, for RTB with said wires, might be considerable.

Squadron guys at Ohakea I knew reckoned there had been a few A4s get back from exercises at Waiouru with foliage stuck to the antennas on the bottom of the aircraft. I've seen Orions doing a high speed(for them) run across the airfield at Whenuapai and we were looking down on them from on top of the hangar.

sAsLEX, you need to get a better photo library bro!

IMO that photo looks chopped, I've got pics of B-52's low with our Skyhawks, will need to scan them in but cant be assed atm.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
