    Spool One piece race suit...Question?

I found a Spool one piece race suit today. The cheapest race suit out there with all the protection on it (hump ect). The suit looks good and fits like a glove. I compared it to my APStars GPU 2-piece suit and the leather might be a bit thinner on the Spool and it is definitely softer. One thing I have learnt in the past is that if you buy cheap, it will cost you more in the end, but then I also heard Quasi say that his suits are better than some of the top brands. Has anyone crashed with a Spool before and what was the result?Anyone racing with a Spool? Would it be worth it or should I just bite the bullet, spend $1200 more and get a top Spidi suit, seeing that I don't really have much skin to spare?

Loosebruce used a Spool suit for a while.

And he rides like -- Loosebruce.....
    I think that's a good enough endorsement.

RRS1 suit. looks great, stitching comes apart when ya crash.

RRS2 suit, Great. good quality, good thickness. The speed hump is a tad on the large size. They fit well when the right suit is picked, otherwise they can be a bit of a pain.

Spool = Great Value for $$$$

Thats a mighty fine set you have there Kiwifruit, did that pair cost you much? I'm talking about the leathers here eh

About 3 years ago my mate won the actrix series F1 class. He got some sponsorship which included a set of spools. He had a pretty average crash and they were history.
Have you considered getting Dusty from Leda Leathers to make you a set Darkman? He is based in the Hutt somewhere and the custom fit is awesome as is the crash protection and durability. I've never heard a complaint about Dustys leathers in my cough cough short 20 years of racing off and on....
Currently, I've got a set of Spidis and they are OK, but hell I wish I'd not been so impatient and got Dusty to make me a set, best leathers I ever had were from him and I crashed in them at least 7 to 9 times with only the odd repair required.

you get to choose your own design, or show him a photo of your fave racers leathers and he will duplicate. He is a master craftsman and I don't use that term lightly. Derek McAdam has a stunning set of Nakano replicas made by dusty (Derek was 3rd in last years super sports nats) I can get his number from Derek if you have trouble tracking him down.

1st dusty measures you up, it takes a while, then he makes the liner and gets you back for a fitting them he makes the suit itself, they are the best, If you gave me a choice of any leathers at all, I'd still go for his ones.
here is a link to a bad pic of a set he made me about 19 years ago, in those days he made leather pads to cover the knee slider Velcro while ya road ride in em, noit sure if he still does that though.

any idea on how expensive these leathers are as I dont really want to spend more than $1400. Have to save for my new bike next year. So, would he be able to print Yamaha on it and does his suits have the hump on them?

mmmm..well, just gotta wait till monday then. it better be good for 1800 cause i can pretty much land the top APStar MX-1 suit(including its backprotector) for around the $1800 mark, but it wont be custom fitted.
