    Torque

Now my partner - as thoughtful as she is brought home Torque last nite to watch - now what an absolute piece of shit that movie is.

Fuck - it would be entertaining if only 10% of the stunts in the movie were actually true.

Ramming one anothers bikes at 100mph - come on......the chick fight scene on the bike with the dueling wheeling bikes - fuck off.

As for doing a burnout on a turbine powered Y2K bike - what the fuck was the director thinking - does he not realise that that is not possible?

Don't get me started on the train scene, or the wicked multi-purpose self adjusting tyre and suspension kits these bikes had to cater for both dirt and road.

Also - why did the twins sound like multis - what the fuck was that about?

Ironically it actually made Ben Afflecks performance in Paycheck (which we watched after) seem worthy of the Best Actor Oscar - which is scary in itself.

I was concerned that watching the movie would make me want to go out and buy a bike - but i needn't have worried.

the wheel stand between the cars & the fight in the first scene were good but it sadly fizzled out after that. Glad I didn't see it on the BIG screen. :sneaky2:

I haven't seen the movie but I would guess that due to the success of MI2 in suspending our disbelief in the ability of tyres and suspension to "transform" they thought they could get away with even more.

What do you expect - after all they are catering to the generation who loved Optimus Prime and all his mates...

Anyway, its just an action movie - did you really expect reality?

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Wkid you must be getting old and have lost your enthusiasm for fiction.

No one ever said the movie was the third edition of On Any Sunday.

We all laughed about this movie when it came out and somewhere there was a long thread on that.

Yes you can. Y2K uses a two speed transmission driving the rear wheel using a chain.

It's not "jet propelled" as most people believe.

Funny. I rented Torque last night too. Also rented Perfect Stranger (not too bad, not too bad at all...), which we watched last night. Couldn't be bothered watching Torque afterwards.

Watched half of it this morning over breakfast. What a silly movie.

Well I did kinda expect at least the smallest portion of the bikes scenes to be based on fact

Well it has made Martin Henderson want to get into riding motorcycles
for real....Thats what I read somewhere (TV guide? WW? gossip gossip)

But his mum, (used to work in Orewa-so horses mouth etc) said he told
her he isn't interested in getting back into M/Bikes....wonder what the truth is...and what he will do in due time.....

I was disappointed in the movie (saw it on the big screen) it got more and
more ridiculous as the movie rolled on

I enjoyed that movie. It was a hilarious comedy topped off with the fact that it was free when we watched it (KB Torque ride out).

    Spider Man 2 Bike Scenes

If you want to see some 'realistic' riding scene watch the opening scenes of SM2....trying to go 42 blocks in 7 minutes delivering pizzas on a moped....and fixing his moped in his 1 room flat by the window was a laugh too.

That has to be my number one hate of holywood. Harleys that sound like 2 strokes, ducatis that sound like multis, its just not right.
