Loosebruce funeral, 8/12/06

Was a privelege to make it down, thanks to Macktheknife. A slept for a fair portion of the time in the car entertaining those stuck in their with me with my snoring

Has to be one of the most fitting funerals i've been to, unfortunately couldnt make it to Darryls but im sure it was just as fitting.

So sad to see two very promising individuals shot down in their prime, they will ride again im sure of it... i think the thunderstorm we witnessed over coromandel on the way home was testament to that.

Take it easy all, ride with the boys in your hearts, may they never be forgotten.

These are all I took. The meeting point and L/B's last ride on this earth.

I don't know about any of the other aucklander lot, but that was the longest, hardest ride I've done, ever. In fact, the hardest few days I've ever done. Nearly 2,000kms, several tanks of gas, a speeding ticket, and a square rear tyre (thanx tubbo HDTboy). I'm aching all over this morning, and felt like I haven't slept for a week.

And I'd do it all over again.

Daryl and Bruce were two of some of the best guys I know. I was honoured that I could pay tribute to them, and ride with them, and the rest of their and the KB family. And to see, meet and talk to everyone about them.

Bruce's funeral was a nice sending off. And the GSXR sticker on the silver and black casket was fitting. The last ride up to the cemetery was a hard one for me. But the place where Bruce rests now, there's just no words that do it justice. The view from the top of the valley, the 30ks of twisties that start just where the cemetery is, the sound of nothing.. just a very special place.

Like Buggy, this week has left my physically exhausted and mentally and emotionally drained. It has been one of the hardest weeks in my life.

My ride down to Palmie on Thursday to the ride on Friday to Upper Hutt.. being blown all over the road on Paramata Rd in the rain and the high winds.
Riding with wet and frozen feet isnt nice.
To riding the Rimataka Hill on my own on Saturday morning in the rain and fog.
To riding all the way up to Hastings in the rain and being drenched throu so much so that my fingers turned blue.
At least the last stretch of riding back to Auckland was in the sun... even thou it was cold and freezing.

But through out it all...... I had my pegs down and I had my armband on the whole time. Bruce was in my thoughts..... and I keep on thinking about the times, he rode past me and slowed right down and waved to me with that cheeky grin on his face...

Loosebruce's service was so moving....... and seeing his son wander up to the coffin and chatting away..... brought more tears to my eyes.
The ride at the end was so moving....... watching Death_Inc and Motoracer doing their thing for LB.
But what got me, was LB's son saying "Goodbye daddy" right at the end.

Bruce, Rest in Peace mate....

I used to flat with Bruce, he was a great flatmate. He had surround sound speakers ...
During the service we heard about his grin. Yip, when I remember Bruce, I remember that grin....and now because of the funeral, Fraggle Rock.

I hadn't seen Hunter since he was a couple of weeks old....and for the next time for me to see him was patting his dad's coffin on the bike hearse just cut me up. It's so sad that funerals bring people together more than anything else.

Bruce, wherever you are I'm glad I met ya, even for such a short time. You definitely did prove to everyone, that life is what you make of it and that you should put in and have as much fun as you can while you still can.

Mate, Huge thanks to you for the lift down. As I said to you on Friday, my favourite memory of Bruce was when he was riding your bike toward me on the back wheel.
