I think it's pretty much sorting itself out then. Saturday 1st December 2007 KB national peg down day - In memory of all absent friends. We just need a meeting point in each centre and a destination - some destinations may be combined if the centres are close enough together.
e.g - North and West Auckland meet up with Norfland Crew etc..
South and East Auckland meet with Thames and Hamilton.
    Taupo and Wellington areas..

My NZ geography ain't hot yet but it's an idea.

This is a great idea guys...a great gesture...and the result of much grief, pain and anger. I support it... but I think I will choose not to participate. I shall pay my respects on Thursday at Uncle B's funeral. I shall be thinking not only of Bruce and his family but of everyone I have lost in my life too...bikers, friends and family. But it's there that, for me, the grieving has to cease and I move on.
There is a dark cloud over this community at the moment which I'd like to see lifted. I'd prefer not to wallow in grief and sympathy but remember those we have lost at a time that is right for me alone. (Which in Bruce's case will probably be everytime I ride the Castle Point road). I feel sure that's what all our departed friends would want.

Just an idea. Not trying to be controversial.

Yep. Good idea. Appropriate name too as long as people don't think it's a day to actually try to get their 'pegs down' on the road. Definately a day for a gentle paced thoughtful ride rather than a balls-out run.

If it were to be used as a fund raiser then I would have thought that St John's would be the logical charity to benefit at they are the dudes that scrape us up and stop us joining the ranks of the memorialised when things go bad.

Agree (gentle ride thing). Nice idea and I like the idea of a charity ride that donates to St Johns (and or Life Flight Trust?). I would definitely bring some $$ on the day to go to that worthy cause.

OK so we are looking at an annual ride with a collection for some charity to be decided, with a view to remembering our fallen friends and loved ones. (no matter how they left us).
Now all I need is a group of people who are willing to volunteer their help in the main centres. Who is keen?
