    Bikers Memorial Wall

It's been mentioned before having a memorial section linked from the homepage, where a photo and brief RIP could be placed for a fallen brothers and sisters.

Has anyone yet put this to SpankMe, or started working on the module themselves. If someone wants to take the lead I'm more than willing to give what little freetime I have to help with coding/testing/etc.

I'm sure it would be relatively painless to hack an existing gallery module to suit the purpose. Each memorial having a heading name/nickname, dates, photo, brief message by next of kin (or another appropriate person), and a link to the thread where condolences can be posted.

Sounds like a wonderful idea GL. I'm not at all "techo" so can't offer to help/set up sorry, but am behind the idea 100%

PM'ed Spank about doing this after Sam died. Did not get a reply. It's about time we did something like this. A "Last Post" Thread as a memorial to KB'ers that have past away. Wish I had the nouse to do the IT shit for this. Can someone please do this.

I was thinking the same thing last night and had planned to send a PM to Spank Me to see what his thoughts were. I was thinking more along the lines of it being in the forums area, and people adding photos and memories of that person - more as a celebration of their life so that their memories live on. We know now from experience that the families of fallen bikers do look at all the condolance messages we put up, and we know that must be a comfort to them, so a celebration of their loved one's life would be pretty special for them. I know I'd like to be remembered for the fun things I've done, the friendships I've made, and the occassional good deeds.

Great idea. I hate to say it, but with around 2,500 members and climbing, it's going to happen more often. We need some way of remembering our fallen mates.

    I like that Idea
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Sad to think we need this, but I do think it will bring back fond memories years after the event...

Likewise here. I like the "last post" idea too - it's sobering to think they were chatting away on whatever topic one minute, and gone the next.

oldfarts last post is like that, flyin's was like that... makes you think about valuing every day

None of us do Big Dave, but unfortunately it happens. I think if it's tucked away somewhere discreet then it shouldn't cause any offence. I for one think its a good idea, a way to remember our fallen brothers and sisters.
