SUZUKI SV650 Wanted

Hi all

Am looking for a SUZUKI SV650.
Got an option on bying one on Trademe but this bike is the 'S' version and has a pommy speedo (Miles v Km's) Ideally I like the more upright riding style.
Price range to spend up to about $7200.

Could change the speedo ofcourse and get used to the 'S' version!

Anyway, feedback appreciated on the above (SUZUKI SV650) model.

I did PM Keystone cause I read one of her older threads. No reply just yet.

This is the bike I was talking about (see below). Its a sweet bike. But am not sure if this 'S' model is what I'm after. It a good price tho with only 4500Km's on the dial.
Any comments on the riding position you have or may have on comfort etc. and even short 1-2hour trip for a pillion passenger would be appreciated.

I'm 6ft tall normal build 80Kg and over 40 years old. I rode a GSX600F for a short time in the south Island on the way back from the Burt Munro trip verry nice bike..

Hers is injected so you get an instant 10hp power gain.The suspension is better.
I race the old version and gosh darn its frustrating knowing that an unmodified injexcted is all but as fast and as good round corners

My SV is a UK one as well and the speedo isn't an issue as it has a KM scale as well. I would never take any bikes mileage as being correct as the bike runs without the speedo plugged in.

For the money your prepared to spend get a 2003 onwards injected model.
The naked model has a more upright riding style and would be cheaper but the S models much more stylish and better sports riding position.

If your looking for a cheap low mileage carbed one buy mine it's low mileage and only been down the road about 4 times while I've had it. And the motors really freed up. Only used on weekends and Fridays for most of last year ( Having the neck wringed off it at trackdays and race meetings)

They are a good strong motor I reacon.

all mostly done on long trips I did about 16'000km of those.

I was the 1st owner and then Keystone the 2nd owner.

Being a VTwin, it doesn't get revved hard. Not as much as most inline 4 does.

It has a known history, and no the speedo was always plugged in.

For your interest heres some pics of my SV from the auction on Trademe when I brought it. I paid $5500 and thought I had a bargin. Can you see the damaged parts from the pictures?

Thats exactly the same bike as I have my eye on. The owner has offered to me for $6800 with genuine K's. Also he's offered me some extra cans he bought in the UK.

To get it VIN'ed here in NZ he had to put the factory cans on it.
What K's do you get out of a tank?

Eric I've seen very nice injected ones go for less than $6800. The problem you have is your buyingat a time when everyone looking for a bike. Early to mid winter bikes are always cheaper as they are harder to sell then.

Just like Motel stays or Airfares you are in the peak season. Even Testdays go up when the weathers good.

Seriously look at buying new as the old SVs will be running out for the new model due soon. Or buy Jills one. I can vouch for these people Jill has a heart of gold and wouldn't do anyone a disservice.

With second hand models include the price of some new rubber in the equation its around $600 for anything good. And a quality Oring chain and sprocket set aint cheap either.

You obviously have riding expereince or you'd be looking for a 250 so go to a few bike shops and ride some bikes. Try the ER6 and the Hyosung 650 but don't let the saleman push you into one unless you really want it. The ER6 is a great bike but I think the engine vibrates a bit more than the SVs
