    Performance car advice.

This'll probably get road blocked pretty quick but I'll give it a go.

Does anyone have any experiance in removing the speed restictor on early 90s Toyotas or Lex-i? I'm going to take the sucker to a few open days with the express interest of T-boning drifters and 180k just don't cut the mustard.

My particular model is a 92 Lexus SC400 Limited.

    Please help!

It's 'Lexii', with two 'i's, you tiny-minded wiper of other people's bottoms.

Also, I have no clue on derestricting it. Why would anyone care? Can that lardy lump even *manage* 180?

I think you'd do better to restrict your cage racing to 10pm Fridays downtown, don't you?

Car talk... bah. This forum is going to the pack. I think I might pack up and move out in a huff.

    ...

There, that should be enough trolly nuggets to do for the rest of the thread. Now someone please help the good man with his teckanologickal problems

Ideally you should run a Greddy/Trust/etc... speed cut controller. They plug in-line with your factory ECU and do the tidiest job. There other other various ways, which may or may not work depending on your ECU, ie unplugging the speedo cable, etc...
I can have one priced up by a friend of mine if you want.

Hmmm, how long is the straight? Are you sure you'd get to 180 in it?
I might take my car out on the track some time. I think my limiter has been removed or never existed though.

If that car isn't good for 220 or more I'd be surprised contrary to what other nay sayers are saying - so give it the vasectomy (though I can't advise how).
    Cheers

What I was meaning is that in x amount of room (eg, race track straight) will it get that fast.
I have no doubt that car will do 220-230km/h

Don't bother trying to get speed out a Toyota V8.

You HAVE to throw a 350 chev at the baby, Trashy...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Andy Culpin has got 800+ bhp out of a twin-turbo Toyota V8 for Steve Cox's shadow F40. Not exactly what I'd call 'don't bother' territory...

Yeah... I mean Vicki and I could only get 175 / 180 kph (2 up) out of a Honda Valkaryie (stupid hard to spell words) at Manfield and it's pretty similar to a Lexus SC400 Limited ain't it?

    ;-)

That's good hp DM, but what did it cost?

I still reckon the 350 might be a cheaper option for that kind of horsepower.

Lots. I don't have an engine only cost figure, only the whole car development. But 800bhp comes at a cost for all engines, even low compression big block V8s. You can get 400-500bhp out of a lexus V8, with good reliability for around the same $$$.
I've seen some bloody expensive old skool low comp V8's as well...

Yeah you're right mate. I was just bored and felt like a bit of trolling...

Haven't seen much stuff on developing big hp out of lexus v8's. And I know even less about the engine management units, and what you can do with a computer, the right program and a serial link.

Could be the lexus v8's are understressed, in which case they will take heaps of grunt.

    Bite.

Quoting Monty Python was a good start but it doesnt mean you are anywhere near exempt from being wrong and being told so. The correct plural of lexus would in fact be lexi if you follow whatever logic you were trying to follow. Lexii would be a double plurality giving you a resemblance of a scientific name eg Podocarpus hallii, Hall's Totara. So it might be Vehiculus lexii, but the plural of lexus is definitely lexi !
