It's all part of living over here. Espescially if you live in a rural area like I do.
I had this idiot in a Hotel boast about he and his brother would light bush fires "for fun" so they could "watch the firetrucks" ...

I flew outta Melbourne on Saturday, at street level it just seemed like big-city smog (think LA) but after we took off there was this almighty brown sludgy layer of crap almost as far as the eye could see. Ugly.

I remember seeing a very red sky a few years back. I also being able to look directly at the sun because of lots of smoke, I'm not sure if it was smoke from over the ditch or not though

I think that Australia is going to suffer a lot more as global warming accelerates, they already have such a hot dry enviroment, some places have been in drought for over 5 years. I was reading recently that there is now a problem in some rural areas with people rustilng water, imagine that, getting up in the morning to find your tank water has had the water siphoned out of it. Thats serious shit when people have to steal water.
Yesterday morning they where talking about backburning some country around a water resoviour that supplies Melborne I think it was, cause they are worried that if the fire burns right up to the lake it will cause contamination to the water supply.

few months ago workers for Hunter Water dumped 25 million litres of fresh drinking water down the drain. They needed to empty the tank to fix a valve or something. No transferring to other tanks, no that's too much work!! Just open the drainage valve and let all that water run down the drain while having a smoke.

The idiot's were photographed too, and it was in the local paper. Residents on the Central Coast were livid as they're all on water restictions. Nobody lost their jobs though - bloody Unions!!
