    ZXR750H2 stock suspension settings

Suspension's a bit tired on my H2 which, with delicious irony, makes it a fairly comfortable ride. The front is as hard as I remember, but the rear sags a mile, and it squats and understeers when making progress through corners.

I've upped the preload slightly on the rear and dropped a little on the front, and it feels like it's sagging equally now.

I'm a little wary of messing with the preload too much, though, given that my oil's probably 60,000k old. Obviously, rebuilds or replacements are probably in order, but in the interim, if you've got any tips, or know the stock setup, I'd appreciate a pointer.

    Cheers,

    Chris.

The only hope you have of making that shock better is getting a rebuild done on it. I had my one from my 89 ZXR750 done by Bruin Engineering, and it came back better than a new stock shock!

As Sugi said get the damper rebuilt & sling a after-market spring in

    Suspension Adjustments

    Fork rebound damping
    Standard........ Fourth click
    Hardest..........Fully Clockwise
    Softest...........Fully counterclockwise (anti-clockwise = 13th click)

Front fork spring preload (adjuster protrusion)
    Standard.......16mm - 6.5spaces
    Hardest setting......... 5mm - 1space
    Softest setting.........20mm - 8-1/2 spaces

    Rear shock absorber rebound damping
    Standard setting.......II
    Softest setting.........I
    Hardest setting........IIII

    Rear shock absorber spring preload
Standard setting.........10mm less than free length

Thanks, both of you. I'll squirrel that phone number away for when I've got readies to spare. I think the first thing on my list, (after a paddock stand,) should be a manual, though.

Why, oh, why did I throw out my Haynes manuals before coming over here?
