Mind you, there will be no humans left alive in 50 years, and it will be modern medical science's fault.

How long do ya reckon it'll take before some Islamic Fanatic or Christian Millenialist nutter splices together Ebola and the cold virus? Or HIV and the cold?
All it takes is a modestly equipped biology lab, found in any universtity around the world, and in tens of thousands of company labs.

Some scientist already did it with Polio and the Cold virus for research purposes, but deactivated the part of the virus which did the replication, or something like that.

It's just a matter of time, get your kicks while you can...

Of course. All men in our family know that almost anything up to amputation can be cured by rooting around in the bottom of bathroom drawers and applying expired creams. You see our theory is that ALL creams from the docs come out of one big jar and they just change the label to get you to buy more. Whats worse - since pennicillin (sp) is based on a mould - it never expires - logically, the mouldier it gets the more powerful it gets.

Women of the family dispute this theory - often violently but we continue on in our quest.

The mistake I made was having a sore foot, I was not keen on hobbling all the way to our bathroom so I stupidly went to the closest drawer that i knew had ointments. Sadly it was where Vicki now stores the animal remedies. Apparently our family theory does not work across species.

No - it's already happened - as far as i can see there are very few humans left now. Everyone else has sold their souls to the internet.

I love the instant-wellness that antibiotics bring. With everything else, you've got this long drawn-out battle to fight, so slow and incremental that you don't really notice any improvement. Antibiotics just go *bam* and within hours it's game-on.

What an age we live in....
Aye. Back in the mid '80s I got a ride on one of the first medical magnetic resonance imaging machines in the UK, or so the consultant told me. Consequently, I haven't spent the last twenty years in a wheelchair.

    Result!

Still, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow.
