So far as I know, all American males are circumstised as a matter of course, reardless of religion.

Apparently it's a health thing and you are also less likely to pass things to partners.
(let's hope Tiger Woods had it done)

Its a barbaric and outdated practise.

its all about choices and IMHO it removes one from a person who is too young to decide for themselves.If they want to be "cut"when they get older,and can say so clearly and plainly,i would not oppose it.

I am - it was the done thing when I was a kid... routine and a bit like docking lambs tails I think. I was a baby - I don't remember it.

It was a question that came up when our little boy was born - it was discussed for awhole 30 seconds and we came to the conclusion - no. There was no reasonable answer that justified it... not even close.

If it wasn't meant to be there you wouldn't be born with it. How ever, personally I do feel that its a decision for my son to make for himself when he is old enough to understand and make that decision (whatever his choice I would respect that). Unless there is a medical reason why it needs to be done, then for now it stays. (Much to the disgust of his father).

as a girl..no not circumcised and neither of my boys are. unless the foreskin is way too long it's not needed. teach them hygiene. anyway, you read the news on stuff.co. young boy had an artery cut....shit...poor boy will have some issues there.

2. The whole "choice" thing is a fallacious argument. Nobody in their right mind is going to let anybody draw blood on their dick, general anaethesia or otherwise. If it's not done to newborns, it's not going to happen.

3. Again there is an assumption that the "medical reason" is something that will afflict the foreskin's wearer. Circumcision can reduce the risks of urinary tract infections. More importantly it can reduce the risk of transmitting some STDs.
