Get yourself an account on www.allofmp3.ru. (I assume this is where xerxes is getting his from) http://music.allofmp3.com/r2/Mike_Ba...html?albref=14

They've got heaps of obscure music, and will encode it into whichever format and quality you like, and you only end up paying for the amount of data you download. Usually works out to be $1-2 or so an album for good quality mp3's.

Lol it really is no big deal. It's not like I have to do much... just push some buttons and wait a few days while the series of tubes sorts its shit out (remember: the internet is not a truck, you can't just dump something onto it pffffft).

It may be some time, my methods aren't the speediest, but they do turn up stuff you can't find elsewhere.

Edit: no, not allofmp3.ru. I'm not getting it from Russia (at least to my knowledge)

Crikey - looks like I have a lot to learn! Thanks so much for the great info. I will never take the piss out of techo-geeks again, with the possible exception of my daughter and oh yes, the people on our company help desk.

There are some good blogs around by vinyl lovers ripping out of print/rare vinyl and sharing the mp3's

    One such one is RecordBrother.

There are lots of others too, but I used RecordBrother for my starting point. Enoch Light (his real name) is one of the artists who features quite regularly and does some cool stuff.
Hayden - Evidence that even the mediocre can achieve great things.

In Russia, the mp3's download you! (and nobody cares about copyright )

A'riiiight. Motu, did you want Jon Lord's Sarabande as well? At any rate, both albums are ready. Blackbird, see your PM.

I'd be keen for a copy of that, I saw performed by an orchestra on Tv one time and have wanted a copy ever since

Well, in the spirit of Xmas, I'll photocopy the words from my LP and send them to anyone who wants them if the PM me a mailing address as they're pretty cool. Xerxes - off to work shortly. Will try a download when I get home. Can't thank you enough and I'll be in touch shortly.

Oh yeah, that'd be great if you could.

After all my shifts over the years that is one album that has gone missing, typical. Why couldn't I lose one of those Solid Gold Hits from the '70's,but no,it has to be one I treasure.I seem to be missing Scott Joplin too...where do they go? To join the lost socks?
