now i cant see out of one eye
and my kidneys nearly shut down
dont do it

Tear some toilet paper and stuff it up your nose... I do that when I've got a nose bleed and it works a treat.
i get bitchin hayfever, and the ride from picton to chch was so nasty. my nose and eyes were both running for the gold. i ride with an open facer, and every so often, drag my glove thumb underneath. easier than reaching my tongue to wipe it off, lol. id go with crashes idea of a bandanna around your lower face. maybe put a padding of tissues to save from ruining it.
