    Well, I'm confused.

After taking some fairly severe criticism for pointing out some of the tasteless behaviour on KB after our last nightmare, today's River Rd accident has prompted replies that include not posting details and not posting names.

Could someone please post the rules in regard to just when it is OK use free speech as an excuse for crass posting and when it isn't?

I'm buggered if I can figure it out.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

my understanding was that if you are related and/or have permission from family to detail the accident then you can post it up?

I aggree, some clarification would be nice... again...

Why can't people just use common sense, we we're all born with it.

we're all going to know eventually....

Yes descretion is needed for such a sensitive topic, but to say that we shouldn't talk about it all, is a bit over the top.

I think there just needs to be some common sense in these matters. Clearly no names and if in doubt just keep the speculation off site and use the PM system untill all is clarified.

That was the case in the earlier threads (at least early on) before there was a public announcement of the names, was it not? That is site policy and has been for some time. Only went 'bad' way down the line, as I recall.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Let's not go there RG. I just want to know, in black and white, who is allowed to post about an accident, and who isn't, and who is allowed to respond to the posts about the accident, and who isn't.

    OK?

We can talk about an accident in general terms but with no specifics. I thinks.

Surely any one can post what they like when they like; however a little common decency with regards to ensuring facts are straight AND the people who need to be informed FIRST have been.

Just think before you post! man i can't believe some of you lot.. your like fukin five year old drama queens; THINK!

No need to get aggro boomer, and I think you're missing the point.

That's how I understand it. I don't have a problem with time, place, or bike. It's the speculation that gets to me. Is it it so and so, saw him/her etc etc.

Not too sure if asking family for posting permission is on, either. I think they have enough to think about than that although I can see the sentiments with that course of action.

If there is to be some hard and fast rules on names then they don't get posted until the death notice is published. That of course is in the event of death. Just not too sure how you get on with serious injuries. Like I said just needs some common sense and good old fashioned courtesy.

i think with injury, not death, names should be allowed to be posted after the person in question has been asked/family member asked. with injury, chances of survival are high, and with the name known, true messages of support can be posted.

with death, i think wait until the papers/tv news/radio have announced it. in the case of the latest mess, names should be with-held unless done via pm if someone is worried about a friend. even a bike description can be an indentifier for friends. just not put out to the general public.

Yep, that's about where I am coming from. I don't have a problem with the bike although I can see your resoning behind this. The other side of the coin is that the bike 'can' alert those that might know the rider . And that's just one of reasons these sorts of posts get posted. People can then make privatre enquires and if necessary give their support to the family.
