Removing stock bar end "socket" from handlebar...

My cbr250r has a bar end missing so I thought I would get some aftermarket bar ends to replace them. I got one of those Oxford bar ends with the rugger bit that grips onto the inside of your handle bar when you tighten the nut.

The problem is... The cbr250 has funny bar ends which screws onto a bit inside of the handle bar which has half circle indentation to stop the bar end from turning against it and a thread in the middle which a nut screws into...

The guy where I bought it mentioned that I will need to take that bit out... except... I have no idea how...

Any ideas? (I've tried turning it and it seemed to be coming out for a while then it just kept on turning without coming out..... )
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

There is a retainer tab under the grip, so... grip off, depress tab, screw something in the end and pull, bingo!?

Should be easy, but sometimes the easy stuff ...
