    Four seasons in a day

Welcome to New Zealand, where it is green for a reason. After reading the comments about English weather I suppose we do have it reasonably good, but every now and then...like during the 10 months of winter, I do, occasionally long for 8 months of uninterrupted crisp cold, dry sunshine that is a South African winter. No I'm not going back... so dont even go there!
Its never too late to have a happy childhood!

Welcome - we've been here a year (from North Yorkshire too!) and love it!

Gosh, so many POMS. I wonder if we could annexe this place? Ooops, already done that! I must say the South Islanders are so hospitable, unless, of course, you are a JAFFA which given the fact that 1/3 of the country lives in and around Auckland means that don't really like many people :-).

    Anyway, welcome from another Newbie.

Not commonly known in NZ but in the rest of the world a JAFFA is a bloke who has had a vasectomy or cannot conceive for some other reason.

This refers to Jaffa oranges...which are...erm....seedless.

JAFA is used quite commonly in New Zealand meaning "Just Another Friendly Aucklander"

A Jaffa is an orange flavoured sweet with a hard candy shell and chocolate in the middle. Mmmm Jaffas......
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
