    Remembrance Thread....

Ok everyone.. this is a thread all about remembering those we have loved & lost!!

I was walking through the Richmond Mall today on my way to get the groceries, & I passed the local Hospice "Tree of Rembrance". I kept walking, then had a thought..so I turned around & went back.. gave my donation & with tears in my eyes I wrote on a gold star.. "our fallen KB members" & put it high up in the tree. Then carried on my way, with a gentle smile on my face, thinking of our friends & loved ones, especially those recently passed.

So, please put the names of your loved ones on here, so we can all share in their memories together, at this special time of year!!! Be they motorcyclists, or not!!!

I was thinking of me old grandad Captain James Stewart (WW2 POW), and I did a bit of a google and came upon this website:

    www.nzetc.org

It's got alsorts of historical records in electronic format. I'm off home to show my mum!

Yes, well, Christmas is a time I often remember those that have passed on - RIP Dad (he died of cancer when I was 13), Nana, my brother-in-law - Ray (he took his own life), Aunties and Uncles, Ron - my father-in-law, who passed away suddenly just after New Year 2001 and oldfart (Bruce). You are all in my thoughts - please keep us safe this Christmas.

I did the same a few Xmases back when I saw one of those trees in the mall. It was just after my poppa had died, two weeks before his 80th birthday, and the tears came to my eyes also as I remembered just how much he loved making sure we kids had a fantastic Xmas, right up until his last. Love you pop.

Too many family members, friends, acquaintances and pets to list.

It never fails to amaze me what can trigger memories of each of them, at the oddest times and circumstances. It marks a special life that can live on in the hearts and minds of others.

My brother who died 27 years ago, he taught me so much, my grandparents who loved me in that unconditional way that grand parents do, my grand son Zane, who was still born last year, our wonderful Zim friend Leon, who died ina motor vehicle accident, Nick, (hXc's friend) who had a heart attack at 10, and Meeckal, hXc's best friend who committed suicide last year, and way too many others to mention...
