So true! I arrived about 2pm in my cage and driving down Dalefield Rd I came across a "Road Closed" sign. Not unexpected. So, I parked there on the side of the road. However, the next car that came down the road just drove right around the sign at some considerable speed and continued on down the road! Bikes were still coming the other way...

My understanding is that the Council must also publically notify any road closure in the local paper........can these people read ?

If there is any real urgency, the marshal can always let the start know and hold the bikes.....no big deal really, although having dealt with a few people from the Rapa now, little things do tend to stress them out more than one would expect.......so much for that country air......must be all that methane.

I had to breathe very deeply. Unfortunately people with property in Belvedere, Dalefield, and the Waiohini (sp.) valley use Dalefield as a through route, often on unregistered vehicles (What The?) so that makes the people preventing them from making their illegal journey the villains.

Deano - we had a fantastic time. It was well worth the trip up. It was a well run and well organised day. Thanks to all the Committee, marshalls etc for their hard work and efforts.

There are always going to be people who can't read, or are just plain whingers about motorsport events or just whingeing for the sake of hearing their own voice. You can't please everyone all of the time. There is always going to be somebody who is not happy or have their nose out of joint.

To the marhsalls who get the abuse from the locals, please try to hang in their and persevere with it - we know its not easy getting ear bashed.

If it wasn't for these type of volunteers, there would be no events like this anywhere and none of us would get the opportunity to have some controlled, safe, fun. We appreciate the efforts that you all went to and appreciate the shit you get for trying to run these events. THANK YOU!

We are looking forward to coming to the next event.

    Cheers

    Dean and Max

    Well done Deano.

And dont worry, there are always going to be people (KBers and non) bitching and complaining about different aspects of events. Its human nature to complain.

I heard the owners club is planning on drumming him out after ripping all the insignia off his jacket.... I was going to enter the Triumph but no one was prepared to run along in front holding the wheel up!

Im a local from Featherston so i am abit just a little bit more civalised,
I reckon for what 3 times a year that who cares,
Yeah it is hard to tell someone the road is closed and wait 10 minutes

If it gets to bad why dont the sprints go back to the old location? considering theres always V8 jet boats out there in the river and not many locals and not a vary busy road considering I live in the area and spend alot of time out Ocean beach riding and never ever see any cars along there.

Good on you guys for running it

Definatly see you at the hill climb

I just got around to getting my photos off my camera. I didn't get there until about 2pm, and only the die hards were still there, and sorry but I have no idea who you are. I've cropped and reduced these for the site - if anyone wants a full sized copy (about 1MB each) then please PM me you email address or something.

Sorry about the thread resurrect, just got back from the yearly South Island tour today. WOOT!

Concerning the locals, Skelstar and myself got one irritated local at the start line and that's it.

I let through many cars straight after a bike had just done started their run to go down the road and turn off at the first intersection. In this manner we hardly interrupted their day at all. They would have have had to wait much longer for a farmer to move their livestock across the road than wait for us to let them through in most cases.
