I guess that my bitterness shows, but like I said our local Ape dealership provide good service. I have had major problems getting some parts but this was not through the Ape dealer. I would have a chat with your local dealership to see what they reckon. Apparently there are two seperate companies doing bike supply and parts back-up. For non-insurance parts I would purchase via the internet. This is a good place http://www.apriliaforum.com/
Still, wish those pricks at Aprilia had replied to my e-mail, especially after going through their extensive registration process. Maybe computer glitch but I have heard similar stories on the above Aprilia Forum.

Slightly off topic, but how do you find your bike compare with a superduke? Have you ridden one?

Never ridden one but knew a couple of experienced geezers in Hamilton who had them. Apart from the tank size and long-range comfort, I have heard nothing but good things. I would certainly be having a long hard look at one if I was in the market. I've seen some second-hand bargains. The Tuono is a great bike and a keeper, but if I was getting another I would probably spend the extra for a Factory. I have had to spend bucks improving the power delivery and throttle response, with the bonus of a nice exhaust tone. I am also intending to get my forks fettled to see if that reduces the vagueness of the front end. My sense is that you would expect to spend less modding a ThuperDuke.

Yes my thoughts exactly. Not much modding I am hoping for. The SD being much cheaper than a factory as well. Factory's are like 28k are they not?

I wouldn't be in the new market for a bike. I haven't seen the latest model Tuono around second hand but have seen a pre 05 factory for around $16k. Pretty good buying I reckon, but the ThuperDukes are a similar price. Tough decision for someone.

Around a year ago I lost the front end on a round-about due to a combination of cold temperatures, too much lean for the conditions and dodgy Dunlops. Might have been a bit of petroleum residue involved too. I am still waiting for a belly-pan panel and the footpeg they sent was a new, less aggressive pattern that gets slippery in the wet. They can't apparently get the original pattern so I am waiting for a footpeg that matches the pattern that they have sent. At least then I'll have both feet sliding off in the wet.

Just to add some info re the ABS option on the F800

    Quote:
ABS- yes I have noticed the ABS can cut in when you don't want it entering a bend as you go over a bump. It only effects my rear brake. Some owners claim both wheels can lose braking until the ABS reactivates the brakes. I find this hard to believe . I did a track day and couldn't get the front ABS to activate so they are dreaming if they trigger it regularly on dry roads. You have to be in full panic braking to trigger the front!
It's no big deal once I know it can happen on rare occasions. It's not that the brakes refuse to work, they cut out for a split second that can feel too long when you are at race pace going into a tight bend. If buying one again for hard riding or track days, I would go without ABS. But for purely road riding the ABS works. If you ride in the wet then the ABS is a MUST, it's amazing how well it works.

A mate has one. SHE loves it.
She is the first person in NZ to do over 10,000km and now has a recognized BMW warranty race pipe. Gives the bike more noise and even more horse power to have more fun! Now it is close to what power I am running and the bike is lighter! Very quick.
The bike is made to ride not polish!

I'm pleased she likes it but I don't understand what you mean by "the first to do 10,000km"?

I've done 15,000km. Do I get a prize? Maybe BMW ar giving out prizes for any of their bikes that don't self destruct after 10,000km? I could do with a new toaster with matching steak knives.
I've got the BMW supplied Akrapovic pipe as well.
And please, no more reports of woman riding F800s.
