    PC - Parts wanted.

As some of you may or may not know I often rebuild, repair or refurbish pc's for those less fortunate.

Can anyone who has recently upgraded supply a monitor a DVD ROM or both?

(any other out of service parts considered as they may be useful in future projects)

If neccessary will trade tech support in return if condition justifies.

Any donations of these parts would make a lesser abled persons year.

err.... no... we wouldn't... 256 ram is umm... a VERY basic starting point.

Big Dog, what sort of specs are you after? ie, will probably get rid of a pentium 1 full package (screen etc) at some point, still works... or do you want pentium 3 + or something?

    Ok cut and paste here......

Here is a few bits of info from PM's to emails that will help you know what I am after. Have 80 gigabytes hard drive, running Windows 2000 with a CD rom.

    "have managed to find a manual for your motherboard and checked the ram specs against the offerings on the QMB website. The type you need is;
    256M PC-133 double sided RAM.
One stick would be sufficient, but if you can get two, Windows 2000 would really fly."

I have in it at the moment:
    128 RAM stick and 2 x 64 RAM sticks = Total 256 RAM.
It can take 2 more 128 RAM sticks to replace the 2 x 64 RAM.
I have 3 slots all up.

Numbers etc on the RAM in my comp at the moment:
I hope all this makes sense.

    128 RAM:
    Korea 0248
    RM285180TA-13AC
    128MB.Sync 133MHZ CL3
Wriiten on the black parts: RC 285080TAO-13AC
    0248

    64 RAM:
    Written on black bits:
    HY57V658020A
    TC-105
    9846 B Korea

    64 RAM:
    NCP
    NP335886400K-8
    0020
    Yellow sticker ADLAS

desperately looking for RAMs of Memory sticks - either 3 x 256 or 3 x 128's or as much as I can get.

by rights any PC-133 ram should work.

Crashe - I will have a look at work for some Ram for you, can't guarantee anything

Big Dog - Likewise my office is slowly throwing out old systems as the new draughting package we have purchased requires some major upgrades so will be quite a few bits and maybe some complete systems laying around

For example a few months back my office threw away 10x 19" CRT's, I rescued them and gave them to people I knew, in future I'm quite happy to pass it all to you as long as it gets used for non-profit work

If you have a complete going system - any spec but going well then I have the less fortunate kids who need them for school.
At the moment I have 2 families on informal wait lists.

You could see who needs one down there, post a notice in the local school perhaps. I'm sure there are always students at any highschool taking computers that cannot afford one to do homework on, not just Auckland.
I use it strictly as a practice, not as a hobby business or anything.

This current machine has so many problems.
I tried transplanting it to a case with fewer problems and now I need to know if anyone has a 95 install disk I can borrow or a spare copy of 98se they can donate.
