It was probably because I was in my Hilux (I know - I am a bad bad man). Headed back from Wairoa in the Hawkes Bay yesterday (Weds 27th) Saw a shitload of bikes on the road, flashed the lights and waved - and I'm not surprised no-one waved in return at the hated 4x4!

Prior to leaving Wairoa, we had dinner at cafe 287 just on the approach to Wairoa heading North. Saw a group of 4 riders heading north and waved from the balcony. All waved or tooted. I didn't feel so removed from riding at that point.

So if you saw some wierdo in a 4x4 or standing on a balcony waving then it coulda, mighta possibly have been me.

Ride safe y'all and look out for me on the road tomorrow heading to Auckland on my bike.... hopefully - if I don't wuss out. I'm planning on riding north from about 9 o'clock onwards. Send a prayer to the weather gods for me.

Driving a 4 x 4 ! Say 10 hail mary's and go for an 8 hour ride.

(PS - I came back over the takas on Weds in my nifty Nissan Sedan (well, how else was I going to carry the entire familys' (help me, Mister Hitcher - wayward apostrophe!!) presents?) and had to fight the impluse to wave at all the bikes. I smiled on the inside, though. Oh, yeah, and the outside too...)

I rode thru Wairoa on Wed, Col, cant say that I remember seein ya tho! Rode Kapiti-Napier-Gisborne-Tauranga, not a bad days ride....

I drove back from Hastings yesterday via Wairarapa. Lots of bikes heading to the bay but none going my way. I now need a ride.

Hope the weather and the riding's good for ya Col, pity we didn't catch up in Wairoa (not that we spent much time there, got bored with the relly's and spent most of the time on the bike around the cape etc), next time, bring your bike brotha!!

I wave to bikes when im in my car... lol... its great when you get a wave back... Have been out on the rd before and had bikers nod and wave at me before I do... from recognising my numberplate/KB nick

now thats cool!!
