I feel rather sorry for the boys in blue, they must be stretched really thin and be seriously short on man power (nothing new I guess). I've driven from Lower Hutt/Welington ---> Picton (via the ferry obviously) ---> Blenheim ---> Kaikoura ---> Christchurch ---> to Hokitika (Via Arthurs Pass) ---> Franz Josef Glaciers ---> Fox Glaciers ---> Haast ---> Wanaka (via Haast Pass) ---> Queenstown ---> Te Anau ---> Invercargill ---> Balclutha ---> Dunedin ---> Timaru ---> Christchurch, a total of about 2100 kms (+/-) and I've only seen 2 cops now, both driving in cars in the opposite direction (both were checking speed mind you).
Other than that, no speed traps, drink/drive vans or random vehicle/driver checks (rodney king style)... Seems we (i.e you) should complain less and appreciate the effort a little more... Unless they've all migrated North for the summer (are cops a migratory species?)
I've decided to give you guys a heads up:
Tomorrow morning I'll be around Christchurch for a little while, then I'm heading to Blenheim late morning/early arvo staying there the night. Leaving for Collingwood the following day (27 Dec) shortly after 10:00am and staying the night there. Finally, heading back to Blenheim on 28 Dec to stay the night, followed by leaving Blenheim for home at/after 10am on Dec 29th, catching the ferry and back to Lower Hutt...
I reckon it's a little fairer now? I'm in a silver falcon (may appear blurry), with tinted windows (legal 35% fronts btw!). Catch me if you can![]()
[PT - These are true travel times, but I don't actually speed, seriously]
