Just got this off the motogp site that bob posted in another thread:

"But the worst result of the day came from the olive-oil hands of Maxine Biaggi. Max, who once said he likes to loosen the lid on the salt shakers in restaurants, was acting all cocky beforehand claiming that he could win the title as he was only one point off leader Rossi. However his cockyness went for a burton as Biaggi suffered a gearshift selector problem caused by a fragment of Mick Doohan's amputated bone becoming lodged within the gear-shift mechanism. The hindrance caused the Roman Empress to finish in a lowly, Colin Edwards of old style, 12th position leaving him now tying for second place in the championship some 22 points off Rossi.
Biaggi was understandably peeved. "An equal gear-shift mechanism." said the bearded Camel star "That's all I've asked for. I did the best I could on the machine available but to win races I needed an equal gear-shift mechanism. Why don't people ever listen to me?"

    ROFLMAO

Here's an interview update with Colin Edwards http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2004/Aug/040807ce2a.htm

I hope he has sorted his problems properly and does give Rossi some competition.
    Cheers

Actually it meant " Let Sete by" but more subtle. Look for Colin to be racing a Honda Lawnmower next year when Rossi wins the title by 2 points from Sete.

Surely the fine, upstanding folk at Telefonica Honda wouldn't be so crass as to use team orders to manipulate the points standings.

    Would they?

Nope that's why Colin came in ahead of Sete and set the fastest lap in the process. No switching went on except with the engine mapping as Sete could not stay with Colin as Colin tried to catch monkey boy without final success.
